Walking, Wildlife & Wonderful Nature at Abbotswood

As many of you may know, the annual Romsey Festival was hosted in July this year, and for the first time Abbotswood Local Nature Reserve hosted a guided walk and talk with TVBC’s Reserves Officers Gemma and Daisy as part of the festival.

9 people attended the guided walk, learning all about the management of the site, the thriving breeding population of Great Crested Newts and our survey work we do every year to keep records of population numbers, the planned owl and kestrel boxes for the site, which will be installed in partnership with The Hawk Conservancy, and of course our fantastic orchids!

Due to the heat, the walk was a little shorter than planned, however we were genuinely thrilled with the reception it received – thanks to all who came!

Due to the success of the walk, Gemma will look at hosting another one next year for the festival.
